Anglican Cursillo Cancellations

Our 30 year Anniversary Celebrations in June 2020 are cancelled as well as all Ultreyas for July & August. The National Secretariat Meeting scheduled for June will  also be postponed to a date to be advised. We may have a meeting via Zoom later in the year.  This has become necessary due to the ever changing advice on the Corona virus (COVID-19).

Unfortunately it has also been necessay to postpone the Cursillo weekends this year. This decision saddens us but we need to act responsibly in the current situation of uncertainty  for the protection of all involved. We need to follow Government and Diocesan instructions so that we are compliant in all we do.

David and Lorraine will have the opportunity to be the LD in 2021. We thank them for their support and for all the work they have already done towards their weekends.

We are also cancelling the Secretariat Meeting for April. We will meet in May at this stage. You will be advised closer to the time.

Please continue to pray fervently as we  care for each other and those God is calling us to support in ways we will need to be creative as we navigate and continue to serve in these trying times.

Do pray you are all well and we will keep you informed.

It is good to know our God is Faithful and Merciful in the bad times as well as the good. He is our strength and refuge in troubled times

Love in Christ

North Queensland Cursillo postponed

Unfortunately, the planned Cursillo for North Queensland has been postponed until 24th – 27th September because of COVID-19 concerns… Marcia & Robin Hyde hopefully still have a Team to run a 3 Day Mixed Cursillo in Townsville.

National was prepared to send a support group to assist – however they do need our PRAYERS!

Details will be posted by Alan Gray on our National Website https://www.cursillo-australia.org/

They are still trying to get candidates from throughout the Diocese. The theme is based on the play from National – “perseverance”

Training that started on 29/02/2020 is now postponed

But it will still happen – in GOD’s time!

Blessings

Psalm 46 is a wonderful psalm. I looked it up in the
Passion Translation of the Bible and it was headed up
as ‘GOD ON OUR SIDE’. That’s always a good start.
Allow me to share the first 3 verses from this translation:
1 God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You’re a proven
help in time of trouble—more than enough and always available whenever I
need you. 2 So we will never fear even if every structure of support were to
crumble away. We will not fear even when the earth quakes and shakes,
moving mountains and casting them into the sea. 3 For the raging roar of
stormy winds and crashing waves cannot erode our faith in you.
Then we are told to ‘Pause in his presence.’
How comforting and re-assuring are these words? Words that have led you,
Gary into a deeper relationship with our LORD and Saviour. When your kidneys
began to fail it was your faith that pulled you through – it was one of those
times in your life that is described in no better way than in the Footprints
prayer.
The Lord replied, “My precious, precious child. I love you, and I would never,
never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only
one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
You trusted GOD to find you a new kidney and He did. You needed to touch
the hem of JESUS’ garment in the same way as the woman in Matthew 9:20
did: Again, from the Passion Translation:
20 Suddenly, a woman came from behind Jesus and touched the tassel of
his prayer shawl for healing. She had been suffering from continual bleeding
for twelve years (and here’s the important bit) but had faith that Jesus
could heal her. 21 For she kept saying to herself, “If I could only touch his
prayer shawl I would be healed.” 22 Just then Jesus turned around and
looked at her and said, “My daughter, be encouraged. Your faith has
healed you.” And instantly she was healed!

National meets in Sydney 4-6 October

Our Musos

It was a very positive meeting at Yarramundi where new initiatives were discussed for Cursillo, including moving us more into the digital age with a 1QR card App for mobile phones, an emphasis on communication, 4th Day meeting and encouragement.

National Secretariat has also decided to assist Dioceses that are in recession (or are struggling) by running or supporting a Cursillo 3 Day weekend with their assistance.

Commissioning new Treasurer

Much discussion evolved about finances both for National and for Dioceses – and the need to encourage Dioceses and Parishes to sponsor candidates not only by support in prayer but by donating funds to remove the cost burden from them.

All agreed that Ultreya and Group Reunion played an integral part in the ongoing Mission of Cursillo – and all affirmed  that God still has a great mission for Cursillo in His Church.

The Ultreya at Richmond Anglican Church was attended by about 100 Cursillistas and it was absolutely exhilarating. Onwards & Upwards – ULTREYA !

Recharge 2019 gets Approval

It was held on Sunday 8/09/2019 at South Lakes Anglican Church –  about 20 attended and all thought it was very worthwhile – there were 4 speakers (Jim, Noelene, Brian & Chris) with plenty of discussion and an interesting exercise of coming up with a skit scenario from various topics. We also enjoyed the singing and the Communion service with the local Parishioners in their very beautiful Church.

WE WOULD LOVE TO C U THERE NEXT TIME…
